We went to a few garage sales this weekend and one of the things I found was a very battered NIV Study Bible for 50 cents. It was a little sad to see someone selling a bible at a garage sale - but I saw it as a little challenge to make it nice again and put it to use. The inside was fine - thankfully!
A little scrap fabric and a hot glue gun and it is good as new.
Denim, Cotton, burlap, metal cross -and a monogram G ribbon for bookmark. I sewed the pocket to the denim - other than that - everything is hot glued.
♥My mission now is to find other unwanted bibles so they can be revamped like this one and given to people who might benefit from them. ♥
This one I plan to keep for Wednesday night bible study so I added my initials with iron on letters.
You really revamped it. It is now beautiful. What a neat idea.

This is so great! Thanks for linking up at { Since It's } Sunday! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree about the yard selling Bibles. My aunt donate one for a yard sale. I asked why and she replied that she had 8 Bibles and didn't need that one!
ReplyDeleteLove it. And old bibles are a conundrum, what do you do with them?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to spiffy up that bible! My grandma was forever wearing through bibles and had stacks of them when she passed. We ended up donating them, but had I saw this first, I would have had so much fun sprucing them up too :)

Beautiful crafts. Happy Little Feet new follower
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about not selling old Bibles at garage sales. I had one with very small writing and was difficult for me to see so I put a free sticker on it. A lady took it for one of her children which made me feel good. Your idea for covering them is wonderful. The denim will wear well. Thanks for the idea because now many old Bibles can be back in use and as Martha says --- that's a good thing! --------------- Shannon
ReplyDeleteVery cute, Pamela! Thanks for sharing on Marvelous Mondays!
ReplyDeleteoh my! This is FANTASTIC! I am in love with the simplicity of this and curious why I never thought of it!!! This inspires me to get the ones off the shelf that i have placed there for memory sake and make them useful again!
ReplyDeleteI would bet that my sons would enjoy a used, well worn Bible made new again more than a new one from the store! Our family bible has been what they use, becasue we could not find one they liked for their own use. I am so doing this and surprising them!
and, forgot to say I am a new follower and I came over from the Under 300 link! :)
