Tissue Flowers

Have you ever made flowers from tissue?
They are very simple to made.

All you need is tissue paper and a little piece of wire.
First - - - Layer your tissue paper - for these 2  - I pulled the tissue paper straight out of the pack which was 9 sheets - a mixture of lime green and hot pink. I didn't want to use all of the package so I cut a width of about 9 inches. I then folded it over and cut in half so I could make 2 flowers.

Start folding accordian style - about an inch wide. Fold over and secure with wire.
Carefully start separating the tissues and fluff into a pretty flower.

Burlap - Glue Stick Holder

I am lovin' all the burlap crafts going on all over Pinterest right now. I bought a big roll this weekend at Michael's, but I wasn't sure how I was going to be using it -  I came up with something pretty quickly today - and it was needed, too. I have glue sticks all over the place in my sewing/craft room and decided I needed to have them all in one place.

Any tall can will do if you use the large glue sticks. I happened to have a nice sturdy can that had wafer sticks in it. I just covered it with burlap - using hot glue to secure it. I doubled a piece for the center and glued it on. The little red flower added a nice touch. If I had some jute handy I would probably add a little to the center before gluing the flower on.

Photo in A Jar

I have had this pinned forever from Pinterest and finally got around to doing one for myself today. I just embellished a little.
When the 2 grandangels were here I took them to have their pictures made and I just picked them up today. The wallet size was perfect for this jar.

All you need is a clean mason jar filled with Olive Oil. Add your photo of choice and embellish however you choose. I painted the lid black and had these hearts on wire deco left over from another project. I just hot glued a short strand around the jar. I love how it turned out although I need to add a little more olive oil (I ran out!) and plan to make some for Christmas gifts this year.

Framed Yarn Art

I love these colors in this yarn. The are the main colors in both my sewing room and the spare bedroom. I had some left over for a couple of other projects so I thought I would put it to good use and make something to hang on the wall.

I basically just wrapped the yarn around and around a piece of matte that I had pulled out of a frame and never used. I had a big nylon orange flower that I hot glued to it and then I called it done.

It is hanging on a white wall so it looks pretty as is but I am thinking about taking a couple of black and white photos and placing them inside and then this will be a frame for them. If I do that then I think I will angle it a little more cockeyed than I have it now.

I am thinking this would be a cool way to dress up some actual plain frames, too and of course they would be even more sturdy.

Little Mermaid Dress - Ready to Wear

This is one of those little dresses that you just sew up the back. It comes already hemmed and every thing on the bolt. I bought this one at Walmart. You just have them cut what you need - sew up the back - add ribbons for ties and it is ready to wear. How cute is my little mermaid Lilypie?

Red Hat Tulle Wreath

My mom is really into the Red Hat thing. She is the Queen of her chapter - they are called Ruby's Southern Red Hats. She is also involved with another chapter that is within the local senior activity center.
As you probably know - the Red Hat Society has red and purple for their signature colors. (my mom's bathroom is decorated in red and purple!) The reason being once you are over 50 you are entitled to wear anything you want - including red and purple together, with big bold hats and boas and scarves and lots of bling...you get the idea, right? My mom wears a crown to all her events and has even participated in pageants and talent shows. I know she has a lot of fun and I am happy she is so involved with something that surrounds her with good friends on a regular basis.

Mom saw my TUTORIAL on making tulle wreaths and asked for a red and purple one, so of course, I obliged. She also loves butterflies so I added 2 pretty "spring fling" butterflies that I purchased at Hobby Lobby. They just clip on so they are really easy to use.

Kids Craft #3 - Sewing A Pillow - Brooklyn

Brooklyn wanted to learn to make something using my sewing machine and I was more than happy to do so. I love to sew, although I am not that good at it - I still have fun trying. Now Brooklyn enjoys it too!

Her bedroom is a zebra motiff so she chose to make 2 pillows from zebra print fabric that I had left over from another project.

I helped her out a little on the first one but she made the 2nd one all by herself. Good job, Brooklyn!

Kid Craft #2 - Foam Doll - (Lily)

This was a simple little craft that 5 year old Lily could put together. I bought the little kit at the dollar store. She just had to punch out all the pieces and glue them to the little doll made from foam. I put her name across the little dress with a Sharpie pen once she was finished.
Great job, Lily!

Kid's Craft - #1 - Wall Hanging (Brooklyn)

For the next 2 weeks I will be featuring "Kid Crafts" while my 2 GrandAngels (Brooklyn and Lily) are visiting with us in Texas.

Brooklyn came up with this idea herself and picked out the materials she needed to complete her project at Hobby Lobby.

Hot pink cardstock
Zebra print cardstock
Glue stick
Scissors
Foam Glitter "B"
Zebra print ribbon

She is going to hang it on her wall when she gets home. Great job, Brooklyn!~
